Supporters include Ashton Kutcher, Justin Bieber, Paris Hilton
MoonPay, a cryptocurrency payment firm, got approximately 16% of its current celebrity fundraising round, which included more than 60 artists, actresses, and other celebrities.
Ashton Kutcher, Justin Bieber, Steve Aoki, Gwyneth Paltrow, Maria Sharapova, Diplo, Post Malone, Drake, Matthew McConaughey, Bruce Willis, Mindy Kaling, and Paris Hilton are among the investors.
A sign of growing elite interest in fintech
The MoonPay event is the most recent indication of the wealthy’s rising interest in cryptocurrency-based financial technologies.
NFTs, as well as the blockchain technology that underlies them, have the potential to transform the music, film, fashion, and gaming industries by allowing creators to get funding, retain their intellectual property, and sell their work directly to customers without the need for middlemen.
MoonPay sees the entertainment business in an entirely new light. “My idea was to establish a varied portfolio of excellent individuals from many businesses and talk about the benefits of their intellectual property,” said Ivan Soto Wright, the company’s CEO.
Several superstars on MoonPay’s investment list, including Bieber and Hilton, have joined the NFT in the last year, making multimillion-dollar digital picture purchases.
